Better Late Than Never

The lack of posting had to do with a much needed maternity leave. Amazing how a new little one can turn us into putty and happily flip our whole world upside down. We're back with a new ditty just in time for the cold weather, {and don't you worry, the new baby has one in every color already}. This weekend we got orders from Irvine to Pheonix, to St. Paul, all the way to Baltimore, so it looks like many are feeling the seasonal chill! More pictures coming soon, but for now we've got quite possibly the sweetest little model on the planet wearing the 'crystal ladybug' version.

These babies come in infant, child, and adult sizes just in case you feel like decking yourself and your mini out in something adorably identical {or if you just want something lovely besides a headband to keep you warm this season}. They come in any color under the sun. {We can custom just about anything remember?} And whether it comes with a scallop edge, a straight edge, or with a crystal in the flower middle is all up to you, just let us know. The Basic Bow Band

One of the most creative and beautiful mommas we know happily obliged to model these lovelies and the results make us want one in every color.

And by creative I mean where there is Cami, there is never a dull moment. From mind/body stimulating activities for the kiddos, incredible gourmet meals {think barbecued shrimp scampi} to some seriously fun workouts, this woman has got it together. I have no idea how she does it with four {yes, you read that right} active kiddos, but she does and she does it beautifully. I've decided this is who I would want to be when I grow up.

Pretty in Purple

These three sisters are so pretty, so talented, so nice and so very different from each other. I couldn't be happier that they agreed to let me photograph them in our brand new headbands. They share one of the most amazing sibling bonds and at the same time maintain their own ideas and personalities. Each lovely lady is enjoying a different time in her life and that's exactly what made me want to photograph them for our new bands.

The youngest, Amy, is enjoying all of the fun high school has to offer.

In the middle is Lisa, who just loves her adorable new husband, and is in the midst of remodeling their first home.

The oldest, Shawna, is a busy mom to a hilarious two-year-old with baby #2 on the way.

Cutest little pregnant lady ever,

she is such a good momma.

So uniquely pretty in purple, these sisters made taking pictures a breeze. Thank you so much ladies, it was truly a pleasure.

The weeks leading up to Christmas sure get hectic around here, in the most wonderful way of course. Today was no exception. Our new design samples were finally finished and we've been pleasantly occupied with these lovelies: Our 'basic crystal band' has become one of the favorites. With almost every winter headband order, peppered in are a few of these beauties. They are so versatile and come in amazing colors. Thanks to your suggestions, we are now offering them without the crystal at their usual $13.50 price as well. But the constant flow of design ideas doesn't stop there. A hankering for something new gave way to these lovelies: {The new favorite, no seriously this time.}

Some cozy yet still chic bands for the girl who loves to spice up the winter blahs. Our 'cold-weather bands' are made with warmth and comfort in mind. The design is 1'' to 1.5'' wider (depending on the grain of yarn used) than our regular winter bands. This provides the most perfect background for our latest flower design. The three flowers that adorn the band, are free of their usual centers and are made using delicate inverted stitching. This makes for an innovative flower shape and band silhouette. We are so proud of this design because of how feminie and beautiful it turned out! The split pea colored band {think mustard with a green tint} will cause you to swoon, and the taupe/split pea duo is jealousy inducing. See? We've been making a few of these ahead of time, but please know in order to guarantee that your order gets to you before Christmas we need your requests no later than the week of December 15th. We think it would make for a very Merry Christmas indeed.

So we're running a little low on headband models during the holidays, can you tell? Everyone we know was either out of town or shopping. I had to be the headband muse, with my man behind the camera this time around. But without further delay, this is the giveaway prize:

We got lucky today. One of our favorite beaches provided the perfect backdrop, we got to work with one of the prettiest models around,

and {when we were finished with all the photography} we ate at one of our favorite spots for tacos. Unlike the tacos, {grilled shrimp and extra guac please} we had a hard time choosing just one favorite photo. So here are two more:

We just finished up our new winter design.

These bands are our very favorite - but we always say that, right? Our latest design is wider than our fall/winter band with a brilliant crystal in the middle of our new eight petal flower. In our opinion it's an excellent way to stay fashionably warm in the soon-to-be cold weather. Change is Good

Although we'd like to fancy ourselves "pioneers" of the crochet headband, the truth is that we're not. People were crocheting long before we were born and handmade headbands have a long-standing place in history. But just too keep things fresh, this summer we decided to start working on some subtle but significant changes in our headband repertoire. Obvious changes like stitching, flower petal count and the way the edge of our headbands have evolved;

as well as changes our customer notices through wearing our bands, like material quality and exclusive color were all considered in the process.

This summer we scoured the various trend stores on 5th Avenue in NY and Rodeo Drive in LA, in search of upcoming styles and seasonal palettes. Just to make sure our ideas were on the right track and stayed distinctive, unlike what we've put out before, we consulted some our favorite blogging fashionistas as production went underway. A recent trip to the Fashion District in Los Angeles provided some delightfully unique yarn in some pretty amazing colors. We are so proud of our work and think you'll be just as pleased when you finally see what we've come up with. So without further adue, here is our new Fall/Winter line of bands:

A Perfect Fall

Our New Favorite - Red Hair

We love red hair, and we love this particular red haired lady. Someone we didn't know before this Summer, Lara embodies everything you would expect from a "kind girl". She's beyond sweet, smart, always happy and on top of all that, has jealousy inducing hair.

We were finally able to photograph her today and the results are beautiful! Our Caribbean Blue and Sunny Yellow headbands looked perfect on her strawberry hair.

Summer Love (or something like it)

Whether it's the constant flow of email for custom orders, or just the fact that we like to pack as much Summer fun into one weekend as we can, the 'kind girls' should probably call themselves the 'busy girls' this week. Our latest and probably most fun venture had to be our photo session at Wrightsville Beach. A sleepy beach town on the North Carolina Coast, it was the perfect backdrop for what we set out to do - show off our must have hair accessories for the warm weather we've been enjoying. The water was a clear Caribbean blue and the sun provided perfect lighting. Ladies and gentlemen, the cause of our latest excitement - our newest product:

It is a very comfortable, thin, elastic headband accented with three small crochet flowers. This band comes in a variety of different colors which you can access via our shop.

Next are our popular hair clips, which now come in some classic summer colors like True Navy and Creamy Vanilla.

With the clip's 'mouth' facing down as you place the flower in the hair, it's super easy to get a secure, non-slip hold all day long. Take it from us, we've reached for these a million times during humid/rainy/sunny/hot weather and the results are always cute and comfortable, even on those shifty bad hair days.We will be decorating our online store with more detailed photographs of colors and products in the next few days and look forward to your orders!

Today someone asked how we find "these pretty friends" willing to pose in our headbands. I thought that was probably the greatest compliment to our "pretty friends" so I'm passing it on. To everyone who has modeled our headbands on the ole' blog:
You are total babes and some of the nicest human beings this side of the Mississippi, and we are so fortunate to have your help in the form of your gorgeous faces and positive energy. It seems like every time we sit down to take pictures, we take many good ones that later it's hard to choose. This time was no different. So finally, without further delay, one super-mom (of three) modeled for us this weekend and now we get get to showcase our newest additions to the headband collection.

These are our new "Skinny Summer" headbands, which are half the width of the original and designed to be lighter in weight. They have two small flowers (each about an inch and a half in diameter) instead of the single flower. We will be selling the original bands year round, but these will be available through August, just in time for the dog days of Summer.

But oh man, who ever wins this is going to be one happy headband lover. The winner will be announced on Saturday so stay glued to the ole' blog. We've had a few requests for children's headbands and with the help of a certain crochet master, that little wish has become a reality. These headbands will fit kids age 2 to about 8 years. The product is still in the works but here are a few samples of what we should have in the next week or two.

We think they are quite lovely and can be made into an adult size if anyone loves to match what their little one is wearing.

Spring Green!

Depending on where you are, Spring may have already sprung. For us, the cold weather is still loitering, yes loitering like some sort of menace at the corner Seven Eleven. Oh, how we wish for the sun to warm us up and make things green again. Instead we are settling for this:

a kelly headband that will make the healthiest of lawns green with envy! It may seem like an unlikely match to your menagerie, but one of us owns a kelly green pair of pants and wishes there was more of this happy color in her closet. After all, great fashion is always about taking a few calculated risks. In our opinion, this one is a pretty safe bet. Decisions, Decisions...
